Fathers and Sons Camp-Out

Last weekend was the fathers and sons camps out. So me and Jayden loaded up our stuff and headed out for an overnight stay. Amanda mentioned to Jayden that we were going camping at about 10:00am. Which turned out to be a mistake. It took some serious convincing to get Jayden down for his nap. He was ready to go camping now!
DINNER!
We grilled chicken and ate dinner on the tailgate of the truck. Jayden really enjoyed the capri-suns we brought to drink. He had never had one of those before this trip. You can see our tent in the background.

HANGING BY THE FIRE!

After we finished our dinner we headed over to hang with the others. Sitting back and observing I was able to catch Jayden's stealth-like ninja skills in action as he swiped an entire box of little debbie snacks off the picnic table with anybody noticing.

After returning the box to the rightful owner, he asked nicely and got to have one.

He actually sat still for about five minutes while he enjoyed his pre-assembled s'more.

FIRESIDE!

Jayden sittin in his chair and enjoying another capri-sun.

Jayden wasn't seriously amused by the song singing so he found a log to be his friend. He spent about 15 minutes jumping back and forth over this log. I couldn't tell in the dark, but this log had spent some time in the fire and made for one seriously dirty child.

BEDTIME!
Jayden was really exicted to sleep in his sleeping bag. At about 5:30 pm he requested that we head to our tent and go to bed. I made him wait a little longer before bed time. At about 9:15 pm he finally convinced me it was time for bed.

Jayden has clean cloths and his pasi, he is now ready for some sleeping.

After about an hour of laying in the tent and not sleeping, I pulled out the camera and tried to take a picture of the both of us. This was the best I could do.

Jayden's New Toy, and a few other things :)

Jayden got a swing set yesterday, I found it on Craig's List, it was an awesome deal (and we just happened to look at the exact perfect time!!! He loves climbing all over it and swinging (they are just his size). Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!!

Life has been very busy lately, I had a 3 week training course that we have been working on for over a year. Fortunately both grandmas were able to come and help with Jayden. In the process we were also able to see Grandpa Byron, Uncle Christian, Mamma and Pappa Hunnicutt, and Auntie Amanda. Thanks to everyone for your help during this busy time. It was great to see everyone. Here are a few pictures, we didn't seem to get many this time.

Speaking of being behind, I am (what's new). Grandma Vicki and Aunt Katie came up for easter, here we are dying easter eggs.
The picture below is just because I like it. It's mother's day so I thought a picture of Jayden and I was appropriate. I also want to say happy mothers day to my mom and Vicki, and my grandma. We love you all, and the longer I am a mom the more I understand the sacrifices that you made for your children. Love you!

March Update!

It has been long enough since my last post that people are requesting new pictures, so here they are. Jayden has been keeping us very busy lately. When someone says, so what are we going to do today, Jayden starts listing his desires, they include, playing outside, riding his bike, go to store, and drive monster truck. It's fun to watch him expand his vocabulary and tell stories. So below you will find random pictures and stories.

Yesterday we went to the Rio Grande Zoo. Here we are riding the train, Jayden thought it was great, we thought it was slow! Jayden and mommy looking at the Gorillas, he would not look at the camera for most of the day, so there's only 2 pictures of the zoo.
What else is there to do right before bedtime then zip around the house on your bike. He put his helmet on himself (it's backwards).

Undie hat? Fortunately these were at least clean when he put them on his head!

One of Jayden's all time favorite past times is driving the monster truck. Here they are sharing dad's because Jayden's is broken.
Ahhh, the Desitin story. This actually happened about a month ago. Eddie joe was out of town for something and Jayden was fighting going to bed pretty hard. I could hear him chattering away in his bedroom, so I knew he was still awake. Then it got quite, and after about 5 minutes I went to investigate. The picture below is what I found. You can't see it well but the Desitin is on the wall and also in the carpet. It took me a long time to clean it up, since it is oil based. Don't worry though, he is offering me a peace offering, he's willing to give up his passy because, "I'm awake"!
He was really frustrated in the bathtub as I tried to get the Desitin out of his hair because, "I'm tired". Isn't he just cute as can be? (Actually he is cute most of the time).

Videos below, the first one is of Jayden dancing in the yard, you might notice that there is no music, and when I started some he got down. He loves playing in the yard, he is definitely an outside kid.
The second video is something that I'm a little embarrassed to post. Jayden LOVES the movie Napolean Dynamite (known to Jayden as, the dancing guy). While other kids are watching Disney movies, my kid watches the dumbest movie ever. I don't understand why, but Eddie joe thinks it's great. Anyway it was on and when it came to the dancing part Jayden just busted out with moves that were very similar to what Napolean was doing (it was too funny, of course we didn't have the camera in hand). This video was done with coaxing and is nowhere close to what he did that first time, but it's still kinda funny.

Back to Life!

This year so far has gone well for us. Eddie joe is back to school and Jayden is going to his sitter again (which he loves). I am back to work and things are just crazy busy for all fo us. I think things will slow down sometime in June (I'm looking forward to that). I just picked some random pictures to post for everyone's enjoyment.

One other note, Jayden talks nonstop now and we are working on the potty training issue. He loves to peepee in the potty (he sings and dances this). However he doesn't tell us when he needs to go, so if we don't remember to put him on every hour, then we have accidents. We will get there one day.

Our ward has switched to the 11:00 schedule, it's really nice because we can sleep in, enjoy breakfast and prepare a meal before we go. Jayden is helping here.

On one of my Friday's off we took Jayden to Explora (the Abq. Children's Museum). It was a lot of fun, both of my children thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

At some point after Christmas I decided Jayden needed a shelf because I was tired of tripping over toys. He was very involved in the assembly process.

For my birthday my friend Yoni (I always spell it wrong) made me this awsome cake. It was so good I needed to post a picture of it. :)

Ok, I am sacrificing my dignity here because Jayden was being too funny. I am trying to eat better (yes I know the cake is right above this picture) and exercise. For Christmas I got the Wii Fit and it is a lot of fun. In this picture I was doing Jacknives and Jayden decided to lay next to me and participate.
So that's our update, we hope everyone is doing well.

Happy 2nd Birthday Jayden

We celebrated Jayden's birthday the day after Christmas this year. It gave him a chance to play with his Christmas toys, and then enjoy yet another round of new toys. We sang happy birthday, ate cake, and opened presents.

Jayden with his 2nd Birthday Cake.

Yum Yum!

Grandpa Byron got him some fake guns, now he can be like dad (we are not allowed to shoot people or other living things). Jayden is excited.

Aunt Amanda got Jayden three Elmo balloons, he REALLY loved these.

Putting both the gun and the balloons to good use. Here he is hunting his balloons.

Aunt Bridget got Jayden some play-doh. He spent about an hour and a half playing play-doh with Aunt Katie and Aunt Amanda. This was one of their creations, I'm not actually sure how they got the mustache to stick on his face.

Thank you all for the gifts, he had a good birthday. I am seriously thinking about celebrating it in June next year, I'll wait and see what he says about it next year.

Christmas Afternoon!

On Christmas afternoon Grandma Vicki, Aunt Amanda, and Aunt Katie came to visit. The first thing we did was eat. Eddie joe and I worked together to cook our first turkey, it turned out well (thanks for the tip on using a bag mom and dad).

I try really hard to take good pictures, but sometimes others have to try too (the camera hog (Jayden) wouldn't even look).

Ahhh, that's better. Jayden was cut out of this one because he refused to cooperate.

Grandma Vicki got Jayden a dump truck, he loves it.

Aunt Amanda had the pleasure of pushing him in it.

Grandma helps Jayden play with his new laptop that Grandpa Tony got him, thanks Grandpa.

This kid is spoiled.

We all spent this rest of the afternoon playing with gifts. Everyone had to try the Wii Fit and then Eddie joe got a turn to try his new games out. We also watched a movie somewhere in there. Thanks for coming guys, we had a great time!

Christmas 2008

We had a great Christmas this year. We stayed home and celebrated as our little family. We missed our families, but we also enjoyed our time together. Eddie joe's mom and sisters came up the Christmas afternoon and stayed for a few days. This post is just Christmas morning, the next one will cover Christmas afternoon and there will also be one for Jayden's birthday.

Santa brought Jayden a desk so that he can study just like daddy does (we are also hoping it will give daddy a little more of a chance to study). Along with the desk Santa brought him colors and paper and other "desk" items.

He had to put all of the colors in the color holder.

He also thought the chair was great, so he had to sit in it while opening his presents. It took us 1.5 hours to open presents because every time Jayden tore off a piece of paper he had to get up and put it in the paper pile. Then he would climb back in his chair. Next, once he got it open he had to actually open the item, it took some coaxing to move him onto the next gift.

He was pretty excited about those markers.

His stocking had some of his favorite "doughnuts" in it. They are actually cookies, but he calls them doughnuts, he was soooo excited. Ow, and the reindeer antlers were also a hit.

Eddie joe got this great hunting jacket from my parents, he wore it around all morning. Along with the slippers I got him and his antlers (isn't he a hunk). I got a Wii Fit from my parents, it has been a lot of fun so far. I was pretty insulted when it blew my Wii character up to my current proportions, but I guess it's time to lay off of anything that tastes good. Thanks mom and dad!

Also thanks to everyone in the family for the cards and gifts. Jayden will make good use of all of the toys, he is very into just playing these days (with us sitting on the floor with him).
